Pekan Budaya Sumatera Barat 2009

An Extraordinary event is taking place this summer in West Sumatra. Traditional Silat and Minangkabau cultrual arts are being celebrated in an enormous "festivale" that will envelop the city of Padang for nearly a week.

Artistis, dancers, musicians, and practitioners of Silat are being invited from all over the country as well as several foreign groups from the greater southeast aisan region. During the event, all will share their respective arts with the public. The importance of tradtional styles and cultrual relevance will be emphasized.

Bapak Waleed has been invited to participate and perform in the festival. He has also been colloborating with the organizers and coordinating with the other participants. Many of the elders and community leaders are expected to attend as well as many students. Some students from the United States and abroad have been invited to come and join in this historical occasion. Bapak Waleed will continue to train these students and help them prepare for the event.
